About Us

Welcome to Vernon Emergency Medical Services (VEMS), your dedicated provider of emergency medical care in Vernon Township, New Jersey. Established in 2023 through the merger of the Vernon Township Ambulance Squad and the Glenwood Pochuck Volunteer Ambulance Corps, we are a volunteer-driven organization committed to delivering prompt and professional emergency medical services to our community.

2025 Meeting Dates: 

Our Meetings are held at Station 1, Located at 164 Breakneck Road and start at 730pm
February 4th | May 13th | August 12th | November 11th

Community Support

Vernon Emergency Medical Services (VEMS) proudly participates in over 45 community activities each year—from the Turkey Trot and Jr. Police Athletic League to the festive Trunk or Trail and Christmas Tree Lighting.

We do this to show our gratitude to all our supporters and to remain an active part of the community we proudly serve.

Membership Opportunities 

Jr. Cadet (14-15 years)

  • Participates in meetings, trainings, special events, and community projects.
  • Prohibited from responding to calls.
  • Receives training in basic first aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.

Cadet (16-17 years)

  • Attends meetings, trainings, special events, and community projects.
  • Scheduled for a weekly ride shift, adhering to child labor laws.
  • Trained in basic first aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
  • Encouraged to enroll in the NJ EMT Class.

Member (18 years and older)

  • Participates in meetings, trainings, special events, and community projects.
  • Scheduled for a weekly 12-hour shift, following by-laws and Standard Operating Guidelines (SOPs).
  • Encouraged to complete the NJ EMT Class.

Associate Member

  • Supports the organization without riding in an ambulance.
  • Volunteers time for fundraisers, special events, or community initiatives such as food pantries.

EMS Task Force Member

  • Part of a specialized group trained to respond to large-scale incidents.
  • Designated by the state for emergency response in critical situations.
